Jean-Michel, thanks for catching and sorry for careless check-ins.
I will work on both your requests tonight as I don't have time during day.

I am pretty sure that modification to icefront_init_varia.F is correct.
I will need to modify output.txt.
Compilers that by default initialize variables to zero will not see any difference.
Other compilers will produce junk during first time step.
