Hi,
too late, but it's OK as far as I am concerned. The extra
initialisation in init_fixed was unnecessary, I just wanted to keep
all grid initialisations together. In fact, this variable mask stuff
could probably be removed altogher. I just think that leaving it in as
an option is a good idea for testing etc., but it's not totally
necessary (and is probably never used).
I am glad that the entire procedure improved the gradient tests.
