[MITgcm-devel] Heat flux diagnostics with pkg/seaice

Martin and Dimitris,

We still don't have a diagnostics for the Atmospheric (net) heat flux
when using seaice (the heat-flux equivalent of SIatmFW for fresh-water,
or the equivalent of SIflxAtm in thsice pkg).
Holy was trying the other day to get something meaningful out of
seaice_growth.F, but I was not able to see why the output was off
by ~200.W/m2
Can someone who knows (better than I do) what seaice_growth.F is doing
add this diagnostics ?
It seems to me that doing a heat budget, or knowing how much heat
is put in the model are quiet basic things that we should be able
to do routinely (without modifying the code with high chance of doing
it wrong).
