Hi Jean-Michel,

that's OK, I just wanted to avoid forgetting about this, in the  
(unlikely) case it once becomes relevant. I understand that  
fool_the_compiler should not be inlined (because then the effect is  
zero), but my SX8 advisor Jens-Olaf Beismann suggested doing this  
anyway (only for performance reasons).
