Hi again,

we can close this thread; the problem is solved (although not to my  
satisfaction). Apparently, creating a netcdf filie requires a  
considerable amount of RAM, and I simply exceeded the maximum  
available RAM for my test job. Increasing the limit from the default  
8GB to the limit of 32GB for this type of job fixes the problem. I  
don't see, why so much memory is required for just creating a number  
of files, but maybe Jens-Olaf will explain this to me over a beer ...
