Jean-Michel, I would very much like to fix above problem.  Do you have any 
suggestions where to look?  I agree that we should fix the restart Pb first.

One issue raised by Martin is that seaice_obcs uses tempAdvScheme=7 with 
StaggerTimeStep=.FALSE. but I have been holding off changing that until I 
understand why StaggerTimeStep=.TRUE. makes things so sensitive for 
lab_sea/tr_run.salt_plume?

It is possible that salt_plume and StaggerTimeStep are incompatible.  During our 
skype conf call (if it happens) could you you or Martin explain to me what 
exactly StaggerTimeStep does and what are the assumptions and requirements for 
other parts of the code.
