[MITgcm-devel] MLD criterion

Hi MITgcm devel,

I have been getting some grief about the kara et al. mixed layer  
depth criteria....not that its a big deal because MLD can be  
calculated offline...but apparently using dt=.8 criteria is not  
robust...

two questions
1) Is there any desire to update this criteria?
2) is it very difficult (computationally expensive) to use a criteria  
using more than just temp (i.e. density)?


there are 2 criteria i have been suggested (dong et al., 2007 and one  
in preparation by Holte and Talley), let me know if anyone wants to  
discuss further
