Martin, a first figure for the evp with 10-s time steps is here:
ftp://ecco2.jpl.nasa.gov/data1/arctic/output/tests/evp/evp_old_vs_new.ps.gz
I send as compressed postcript in order to keep full resolution.
Left column is with seaice_evp.F file that you sent yesterday and with evp time
step of 10 s. Right column is with older code and evp time step of 20 s.
Some close-ups here:
ftp://ecco2.jpl.nasa.gov/data1/arctic/output/tests/evp/evp_new_detail.ps.gz
ftp://ecco2.jpl.nasa.gov/data1/arctic/output/tests/evp/evp_new_detail2.ps.gz
Comments:
1. new seaice_evp.F appears to work same as old seaice_evp.F
2. 10-s and 20-s solutions are substantially the same
3. grid-scale striations in solutions remain
4. these striations occur mostly in regions of open water,
but they do have a small impact on jaggedness of edge of ice
