Hi Chris,

Yes!  In that case you will need to do the following:

  - run on an operating system and file system that together 
      support >2GB files (Linux and some of its file systems 
      have had this for a while)
  - compile your netCDF libs with the large-file-support 
      option enabled
  - then only manipulate the data set using other netCDF tools 
      that have the large-file-support option enabled since 
      there is a problem with backwards compatibility
      + NCO does (optionally) have this support
      - MatLAB (through mexcdf) currently *doesn't*
