Hi Baylor,
No! There is no processor or sequence number! Just a model iteration
number and either a face index or a tile index.
I'm sorry if I did a poor job of explaining that in the original email.
I tried to point out that faces and tiles are separate. If it helps,
heres an ASCII graphic of what I'm talking about:
Here are six cube faces:
+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+
| | | | | | |
| F1 | F2 | F3 | F4 | F5 | F6 |
| | | | | | |
+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+
which result in six per-face files for one BASENAME:
state.0000000000.f000001.nc
...
state.0000000000.f000006.nc
and heres exactly the same grid that has been divided up into four tiles
per face:
+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+
|T1 |T2 |T5 |T6 |T9 |T10|T13|T14|T17|T18|T21|T22|
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
|T3 |T4 |T7 |T8 |T11|T12|T15|T16|T19|T20|T23|T24|
+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+
which results in 24 per-tile files in the format:
state.0000000000.t000001.nc
...
state.0000000000.t000024.nc
or we could split it up into different numbers of tiles per face such as
this odd but totally do-able decomposition:
+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+
|T1 |T2 | | | | T8 | |T11|T12|
|---|---|T5 |T6 | T7 |-------| T10 |---|---|
|T3 |T4 | | | | T9 | |T13|T14|
+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+=======+
which results in 14 per-tile files:
state.0000000000.t000001.nc
...
state.0000000000.t000014.nc
