My collective view is we should put it in - thats the best way to find 
the bugs.

Can we give it a more specific name (after all everything we do is 
sophisticated) or maybe we could make it default and call the old style
"useReallyNaffandUnsophisticatedScalingThatWasSophisticatedLastWeek".
