BTW - there is also a directory called 

/u/u3/local/gcmpack

that appears to have same mods as /usr/local/gcmpack-adcroft right up to
09:56 on March 18. However it's a different tree (different inodes) and it
does not feature the Feb 10 returns from the dead! 

It shows ini_curvi going to Attic for advect_cs at 14:14 March 12.
