Hi Alistair,

I'll do my best to fix it IFF you provide me with one or more of the
following:

  - an account on that system [it doesn't *have* to be through 
      SSH--you could just invite me to come with you the next 
      time you drive down there]

  - a description (even just a "uname -a") of what the hell
      the system is so I can try to locate a similar one 
      elsewhere

  - a real, honest-to-goodness bug report with an actual 
      description (or, better, a copy-and-paste) of the 
      error message

Without any of the above we might as well be discussing the average
flight velocity of sparrows.
