Ed, what is the PC way of writing:

      _RL ae        /6.3710e6/
      _RL grav      /9.8156/
      _RL sbo_omega /7.292115e-5/

Can I use:

      _RL ae, grav, sbo_omega
      PARAMETER (ae=6.3710e6,grav=9.8156,sbo_omega=7.292115e-5)

Also I dimly recall seeing some #$%#@^$ comments about sbo
style being inconsistent with standard F77.  Was there
anything else except for above?

P.S. Please suggest some spectacular way in which I can break the code
in coming week so that I can earn another yard of Belgian beer during my
visit.
