Hi,
I generated "broken-lines" that follows the high-res CS-grid,
to compute the meridional stream-function.
Surprisingly, my script seems to work, meaning it produces some
lines.
Then I tried to compute the stream-function with 10y averaged
velocity files that Ed generated (U_ave_1994--2003 & V_ave_1994--2003)
but I get a very noisy stream-function with very large values at the
surface (peak at 300.Sv, and above 20.Sv at the Equator).
I checked that the net cross equatorial flow (the only trivial
broken-line that is only in 2 pieces) is equal 20.Sv.
I can think of 4 possibilities:
a) I did the same mistake in the script and when I computed
the cross Eq. transport.
b) the averaged velocity is not correct.
c) short-time scale variability (since the averaged velocity
is computed from snap-shot written every X.days, X=3 ?)
d) z* not taken into account (It would be surprising if z* alone
could explain > 300.Sv, but why not 20.Sv ?).
I think it would be useful to know what is wrong because
it could influence the type of output-file to produce.
I can tell where are the 2 small scripts that I use to compute
the cross Eq. transport, if someone wants to look at this.
