Simon,
thanks, that was not the real problem, unfortunately,
just a temporary one.
Chris,
as an update, when I set -DWORDLENGTH=1 (instead of 4)
it does read the bathymetry with correct content,
but then stops after reading ini_theta with
theta all zero (safety check).
The issue seems, all files are float32, and
ini_depths works ok because it calls READ_REC_XY_RS (_RS!)
whereas ini_theta calls READ_REC_XYZ_RL (_RL!)
So just another EEOPTION or special compiler option?
(nothing special looking at the GFDL
-p.
