[MITgcm-devel] seeking algo for globally unique per-tile file names

Hi Andy & Chris,
I'm trying to come up with a simple method for generating globally
unique per-tile file names for mnc. I understand that the "iG,jG"
method as used in mdsio is not valid for W2/exch2. And I've noticed the
comment in pkg/exch2/W2_EXCH2_PARAMS.h that says:
C W2 tile id variables (tile ids are no longer a function of
C process and subgrid indicies).
But in spite of that comment, could we somehow determine global tile
indices using only the three variables: [myThid, bi, bj]? Perhaps we
could add a common block with a myTileIDs(bi,bj) variable that gets
initialized by the wrapper at thread start-up?
Or is there a better way?
Ed
