[MITgcm-devel] atmospheric climate data for gcm verification

hi all,
there are a few observationally based climate datasets that are 
now on the cluster. they are for verification (and tuning) of
the climate of an atmospheric simulation. the collection will
expand gradually, but for now they are on:

/DATA/d22/molod/verification

the data are:
Clouds_radiation  ---     erbe (top of atmosphere radiation)
                          srb  (surface radiative balance)
                          isccp (vertical distibution of clouds)
                          coads (dasilva estimates of sfc budget
                                over oceans)
Precipitation_moisture -- Different precip estimates:
                           gpcp (satellite-gauge combination),
                           msu (satellite), jaeger, legates-wilmott....
                          Total precipitable water (ssmi)
                          UARS upper tropospheric water

each directory has a ".tabl" or ".ctl" file which is basically
a description of what is in the dataset and in what sequence.
there is also a README file with the reference and basic description
of the fields.

let me know if there are any problems/issues using the data.
