Yes - so we can be "unsafe" and re-write into the old output. Default should
be safe but it's simply more convenient to work in the same directory with
the same files.

Hi Alistair,
No, but I think it'd be easy to do.
And just so that I understand, you want a global flag in data.mnc thats
something like "allow_var_overwrite" which allows/disallows all MNC writes
to redefine and/or overwrite existing variable definitions within
MNC-generated files?
