Ed,

The last changes to xmakedepend (versions 1.2 -> 1.3) break it on my RH8.0
system.
There are no errors  - it simply doesn't generate the dependancies.

I don't like including genmake_optfile from inside xmakedepend because it
changes the functionality of a stand alone tool. Ie. It might work for this
code but no longer work the same for another code not configured by genmake.
Can we undo this  - what was broken that made you need to do this? The log
simply says you wanted to select the cpp.
