I will do this modification today. I will do a quick 
test running lab-sea experiment.

Concerning the diagnostics, some pkg are doing things
from do_the_model_io but some others do diagnostics
inside the main pkg routines. I will leave this for
now but could be interesting also to have a more
standard approach.
