1) Lesson learned.

2) No - I meant to undo the requirement that both SIZE.h_mpi and
CPP_EEOPTIONS.h_mpi should exist (since they wont and J-M has pointed out he
wants to provide other files too). We should put back the logic that does
run the expt if the _mpi files aren't in place. Will you do that?

Since you asked, there are two things that needed attention:

  1) comparison error:

       bad syntax:   test $foo == $bar
       good syntax:  test "x$foo" = "x$bar"

  2) You threw out the logic ensuring that only the tests 
     containing "*_mpi" files would be used when using the 
     "-mpi" option.  Was that intentional?
