- revert to using model mask in addition to data mask
      reason: smoothing over land by using bpmask as 
          the smooth_basic3d parameter does not work
          with a blank list that discards land tiles.
- subtract global mean value from anomaly field

- fix lines alignments, missing _d 0
- remove imin, imax, etc. and always use 1, snx, etc.
