please note that the "official path" for 
the large partitions for data on itrda is 
  
  /net/itrda/scratch-0
  /net/itrda/scratch-1
  /net/itrda/scratch-2
  ...

in other words, substitute the word 'scratch' 
for the word 'data'.

we have been running in a "compatibility
mode" for a few weeks. i am sorry for the
short notice on the switch here, but i suspect
that the "dual mounting and exporting" of 
these partitions may be to blame for crashing
itrda earlier today. (still investigating this, 
so i reserve the right to change my mind ;).
